Where
would you like to start? There's so much to choose from! Would you like to take
a scenic tour of the San Juan Islands? (Very popular!) Check out the
ferry routes and times.
Perhaps you'd like to take a trip up
world-famous Chuckanut Drive ? This cliff-hugging
route has been the backdrop to many car commercials. You'll find sweeping coastal
views throughout the drive. Be sure to stop in at Larabee state
park, site of some of the most fascinating sandstone formations you'll ever
see.
Or maybe you'd care to journey east on Hwy 20 up to the North
Cascades National Forest, a year-around scenic wildlife corridor. Breathtaking
views of the Baker Dam, Ross lake, and Washington Pass. You could experience the
eagle migration of the Upper Skagit River, which happens every winter in February
(over 400 eagles were counted last winter!) Check out the Upper
Skagit Bald Eagle Festival.
One of my personal
favorites is to get out to Samish Island during the low tides. You can
walk for miles, and in season you can still harvest a few geoducks (the big clams
with the long necks) It's great fun for the whole family.
And don't forget to visit Deception Pass bridge,
and the Deception Pass
state park. The views are incredible from the bridge, so bring your camera,
and your family, too. There's lots to see and do down on the beaches.
There's just so many places to explore in Skagit County!
I can't count them all for you, but I can provide you with links to various websites
that will help you to see just what's in store for you when you come to Skagit Valley!
