I can only begin to scratch the surface of great places to eat in Skagit County. There are so many. Whether you're looking for a great breakfast, lunch or an exceptional dinner, your choices are only limited by your budget and your palette for fine foods. From casual to elegant, you'll find your favorites here in Skagit County.

Breakfast

Country Corner Home-style breakfasts at the corner of Hwy 20 split to Oak Harbor, just east of Anacortes. Gas, Food Mart, Lounge also.

Valley Cafe My personal favorite for years. On the corner of Hwy 20 and Avon-Allen Rd, just a few miles west of Burlington. Not much to look at from the outside, but inside you'll find generous seating, great service, and made-to-order breakfasts that will surpass your expectations. No one leaves hungry!

Mr. T's Family Cafe is located near the I-5 freeway, just off West Fir St. Also a Mount Vernon local favorite. Small, but inviting, and the biscuits and gravy will easily start your day.

Lyman Restaurant & Lounge For those traveling east, stop in and meet the locals! Order a breakfast that would fill a logger's appetite!

Lunch

Gere-A-Deli This hot spot in Anacortes was voted best by the locals. Stop in for soup, sandwich, salad, or chowder. Located on the main drag, Commercial Ave.

Swinomish Northern Lights Casino I've sampled many of their lunch menus. They offer a wide variety of options for midday dining, and at very reasonable prices. Located between Anacortes and Burlington, just west of the Swinomish Slough bridge, off Hwy 20.

Bob's Burgers & Brew A new establishment, just north of Burlington off I-5. The name says it all. Whisker's Cafe LaConner's best lunch spot. Gourmet burgers, and to-die-for fish and chips. Travel a few extra miles, and soak up the scenery and charm of LaConner.

Calico Cupboard Cafe & Bakery Just off I-5 and Freeway Dr in Mt Vernon. "Made from scratch" bakery. Great lunch menu.

Buffalo Run Restaurant is one of the most unique dining experiences you'll ever have. Located just off Hwy 20 in Marblemount. Famous for buffalo, ostrich, venison, and elk meat, prepared in all sorts of ways. Bring your appetite!

Dinner

Flounder Bay Cafe Delicious waterfront dining at the Skyline Marina in Anacortes. Local seafood prepared with local recipes. Dinners served year-round.

Chuckanut Manor Seafood and Grill Enjoy spectacular sunsets looking far west over the Sound. Very fine dining includes special seafood dishes, steaks, and a variety of fine wines. Just 15 minutes off I-5 north on Chuckanut Drive.

The Oyster Bar on Chuckanut Drive Terrific island views, fresh seafood dishes, and award-winning wines are just part of the fare at this well-known restaurant. Also just north of I-5 on Chuckanut Drive.

LaConner Seafood & Prime Rib House has been voted 'best seafood' many years running. Waterfront dining on the Swinomish Slough. Great way to relax after shopping through LaConner's historical district.

Thai House Truly authentic Thai and Japanese Cuisine. Best in Skagit Valley by far. Easy to find on 1st St. in downtown Mount Vernon.

Mexico Cafe A family-owned institution on the Memorial Hwy in west Mount Vernon for nearly 40 years. Serving the best in Mexican food, enjoyed by the locals and visitors alike.

Max Dales Steak House Located on Riverside Dr in Mount Vernon. For as long as I can remember, this restaurant has been serving great steaks and seafood. Full-size lounge, plenty of seating for large parties.
